| After years of being exclusively acoustic, in 1989 we began to offer a selection of electric guitars, especially hollow-body jazz guitars. Though we now carry solid-body electrics as well, such as the Les Paul historic reissues and the Parker Fly. Since improved pickups for flat tops have many acoustic guitarists 'plugging in', we now carry high-quality amplifiers for both electric and acoustic-electric instruments. Yet acoustic guitars, mandolins, and banjos are still the mainstays at Gryphon, as they have been for 25 years, though our inventory of harps, violins, dulcimers, and ukuleles continues to grow as well. In recent years an important part of our growth has been in instruments by very small companies and individual makers, as we continue to keep one foot, or at least several toes, outside the mainstream music industry.
